New Vet

Lady trotting along!
Lady tongues out! Nana nana! you cant catch me!

Lady had a bit of a scare this weekend!  Her stools had blood and mucous in it.  The vet did some tests and found out it was just a bacterial infection.  Imagine a being happy that she had a viral infection only !!whew!  anywho, it may have been a blessing in disguise.  My previous vet turned me off about amputation  that I almost didnt go thru with it.  After getting educated thru this and other sites I decided that vet was wrong.  I took her to a new vet because of this infection.  Come to find out the vet we found had the same rotty breed tripaw that lived 20 months!  Now we have an insider friend tht will help us with homeopathic medicines and a new diet to help her cope with her new life!!  Im so happy this infection happened!  How weird is that?

Update 27 days post operation!

Lady in harness!

Lady has come along great in the past 4 weeks.  She is getting stronger and stronger by the day!  She is now running around the block with one stop in between.  Not very long run but enough to let me know that she is ok!  She has mastered the steps flawlessly.  I wish I can stay home with her everyday but someone has to pay the bills around here!  LOL.  Well any way I thought id give a lil update!

Oh yes, she is now wearing her harness and it is helping tremendously.  Thx Jerry!!!  LOl

update

OK 25 days postop. Lady is officially off all her medicine. Yeah. Well except the choncrotin gravy mix which she has received for the past 5 or so yrs. She is doing so good. She is able to wear her harness now so I can help her use her strength on something other than the stairs. Her walks seem to be getting longer and her strength getting better. She does seem to still be uncomfortable while she sleeps at night. I think she gets up and changes beds quite frequently. (1 orthopedic bed and one cool mattress). She doesnt yelp or anything but she does stir. She started getting up on her fav couch again and she is rolling over on her amp side for belly rubs. Hope this is great signs for things to come. Thx everyone for getting us thru these tough few weeks!! I will update v soon

Hello world!

Oh and thank you for all the kind words. Lady luvs to here them when i tell her people have been asking about her!!

Lady is now 6 days post – op.  She is coming along well with few hiccups.  There are some terrible side effects to the meds (tramadol and deramax) but its better than the poor gal suffering from the bone tumor.  Basically, she stares out into the yard or falls asleep (kind of like someone with narcolepsy).  Also she is constipated.  However when she does finally go she is in great spirits and I still would not change my opinion of what I did to help her relieve the pain.
