Lady had a bit of a scare this weekend! Her stools had blood and mucous in it. The vet did some tests and found out it was just a bacterial infection. Imagine a being happy that she had a viral infection only !!whew! anywho, it may have been a blessing in disguise. My previous vet turned me off about amputation that I almost didnt go thru with it. After getting educated thru this and other sites I decided that vet was wrong. I took her to a new vet because of this infection. Come to find out the vet we found had the same rotty breed tripaw that lived 20 months! Now we have an insider friend tht will help us with homeopathic medicines and a new diet to help her cope with her new life!! Im so happy this infection happened! How weird is that?
That is very cool! So glad you got lucky like that. I had a similar experience with not being comfortable about going back to my previous vet because I felt I was being counseled away from amputation as well, and also because it took so long for the cancer diagnosis (but I do understand it’s not an easy job). Gerry’s new vet clinic is great – I’m pretty sure. But I guess I have some trust issues to get over because I still find myself second-guessing everything they tell me. Never would have done that before Yoda’s bone cancer.
Hooray for viral infections! (It is a little crazy, but it totally makes sense to cheer for that).
sounds like kismet. glad lady is doing better after the ‘poop scare’. great pictures!!

I imagine that did give you a scare! Glad it was only a bacterial infection. I think you’re right about your other vet – never heard of a vet not agreeing to an amputation – it’s usually the owners they have to convince. Your new vet sounds like a great find too. 20 months! Wow – great to hear. You should have a lot to talk about with your rottie tripawds :).

So glad to hear that Lady will be OK… mucosy diarrhea is no fun… 🙁 I’m happy that because of Lady’s diarrhea you were able to find a new vet too!!
Good luck and let us know when Lady is scheduled for her surgery…

Lady is Post operation/ She was amputated a little over a month ago!
Lady, sorry we havn’t been around to see you for a while and to comment. You are so pretty, and it sound like you are lucky too. If it wasn’t for that infection, you would’t have found your new vet. Keep on truckin, babe.
